Inspiration from our furry friends

Let’s start the week with some inspiration from our furry friends.  Animals can teach us so much and I take a lot of inspiration and learning from dogs in particular.

In fact, ‘Be More Dog’ is my favourite life motto and a core personal value.

What does this mean to me?

Well, have you ever seen a dog playing on the beach, running along the sand and madly dashing into the water to fetch a stick?  He’s over the moon to be there, and epitomises unbridled joy and making the most of the present.

This is what ‘be more dog’ represents to me.

Dogs show us to:

•       Be happy about little things, even if you’ve done them hundreds of times before.

•       Greet people with enthusiasm and joy, even if you last saw them 10 minutes ago.

•       Know what you want and pursue it with focus and determination (a ball, a cuddle, a piece of someone else’s dinner…)

•       Love spending time outside and exploring with a sense of wonder and excitement.

•       Make friends quickly and love unconditionally.

•       Forgive quickly and don’t hold grudges.

•       Sense how others are feeling and offer comfort when needed.

•       Live in the moment.

To a dog, life is full of joy and play, of love and friendship. They don’t worry about how they look, or what they did yesterday, or what will happen tomorrow. Everything is a new adventure, and they embrace life with vim and vigour.

Imagine what life would be like if we had more moments like that; if we could all be a bit more dog.

What can you do today to be more dog?

Go well,

Ruth

PS - if you have cute photos of your pooch, please do send them my way!
