My Values

These values are meaningful to me in all areas of my life. They inspire me and keep me honest with myself.

Be Aligned

Be Intentional

Be Human

Be Sparkly

Be More Dog

Be Aligned

Being aligned is about being true to who you really are. It’s about knowing yourself and behaving in integrity with yourself, in line with your own personal values. It’s about ensuring you are being real to who you are, not having to put on a mask.

Being aligned means that your actions match your words. You’re not an advocate of ‘do as I say, not as I do’.

This is also about being aligned within yourself by tuning into your head, your heart and your gut so you can make decisions and take action from a place of real knowing, and so you can access your potential and deepest wisdom.

Be Intentional

When you’re intentional, life isn’t just happening to you. You aren’t simply at the mercy of whatever comes your way. You know who you are and how you desire to bring yourself into the world, in every interaction and experience.

To be intentional requires you to practice awareness and presence, and make decisions in the moment on how you choose to be.

Being intentional helps you be aligned and influential. You can’t control others, but being intentional helps you to control yourself.

Be Human

Human beings are incredible creatures, yet we don’t always embrace or understand our human-ness. In fact, in the workplace we often disregard it completely and expect people to leave their human-ness behind at the door!

Being human is about learning about yourself and others, and understanding the quirks and foibles that are part and parcel of being a human. It’s about allowing ourselves and each other to be real, to be imperfect.

It’s about embracing all our uniquely human traits and allowing these to differentiate ourselves from the technology that surrounds us and assists us.

It’s about being kind, being compassionate, forgiving ourselves for our mistakes, learning to keep improving, and fostering the delicious human connections we build with others.

Be Sparkly

I don’t want a life filled with things that are beige, bland or boring (and I certainly don’t want to be that way myself). Being sparkly is the opposite.

Being sparkly is about being your true, best self, whatever that is for you.

This doesn’t mean you have to be the loudest voice in the room or the life and soul of the party, and it certainly doesn’t mean you should be something that you’re not.

It’s about knowing and embracing who you are, and approaching life from a place of wonder and curiosity. It’s about allowing your own inner sparkle to show up, because it will help others to sparkle too.

Being sparkly is irresistible and positively contagious, so when you’re sparkly you’ll bring out the sparkle in others as well.

Be More Dog

Think about the best dogs you’ve ever known, and how they approach life. We can learn a lot from them, including how to:

  • Be happy about little things, even if you’ve done them hundreds of times before.

  • Greet people with enthusiasm and joy, even if you last saw them 10 minutes ago.

  • Know what you want and pursue it with focus and determination (a ball, a cuddle, a piece of someone else’s dinner…)

  • Love spending time outside and exploring with a sense of wonder and excitement.

  • Make friends quickly and love unconditionally.

  • Forgive quickly and don’t hold grudges.

  • Sense how others are feeling and offer comfort when needed.

  • Live in the moment.

To a dog, life is full of joy and play, of love and friendship. They don’t worry about how they look, or what they did yesterday, or what will happen tomorrow. Everything is a new adventure, and they embrace life with vim and vigour.

I aspire to live like that. I aspire to be more dog.
